Mériadeck

Renovation of the Allianz Towers, a mixed urban development program featuring offices, a 147-room hotel, restaurant and sports hall in the Mériadeck district.

The rehabilitation project of the “Allianz Three Towers” in the Mériadeck district aims above all to restore a connection between the buildings and the city.
In the 1980s, slab urbanism sought to separate vehicle and pedestrian traffic by placing pedestrians “safely” on an elevated platform. As a result, the street level was deprived of life, serving only for parking access and technical facilities.
Today, the city is moving toward reducing car traffic to make room for shared spaces between public transport (tram, bus) and soft mobility (pedestrians, bicycles, scooters...).

The Three Towers are now opening onto Claude Bonnier Street through three new entrances serving the various functions: hotel, restaurant, offices, and shops.
The slab-level accesses are preserved and enhanced for the hotel’s reception/restaurant (Towers B and C) and pedestrian access to the offices (Tower A).

While respecting the original architecture by Arretche-Karasinski, the Three Towers of the Mériadeck district are being revitalized, opening up to the public and reconnecting with the heart of the city.

Collaborative and intimate workspaces

Building A is composed of six levels.
The floor plates are organized into four wings with numerous openings, connected by a central core that houses shared functions such as reprographics, restrooms, and a break area, as well as the building’s vertical circulation.

The tenant (Bordeaux Métropole) wanted to experiment with new workspaces that encourage collaboration and social interaction, without compromising user concentration.

This existing architecture allows for the design of more human-scale workspaces, with open spaces composed of 8 to 12 workstations.
The choice of furniture also supports focus and privacy, offering separation between workstations: tall open storage units, acoustic and visual partition screens...

Encouraging collaboration and social interaction without compromising user focus.

Bulle acoustique Mériadeck

To facilitate collaborative work between users, the floor plates are punctuated with meeting spaces of various sizes (6 to 10 people), as well as acoustic pods, break areas, and informal gathering zones.
These are furnished with modular and varied furniture (high tables, standing desks, low seating, etc.) that encourage informal interactions.

The lobby has regained its original architectural richness, featuring prestressed concrete beams and coffered floors.
These furniture types and postures are stimulating for users.

The atmosphere is designed to be warm, understated, and comfortable.
Two carpet tones help distinguish work areas from circulation zones.
Light oak and burgundy — the two dominant materials — create a sense of unity across the different floors.
They appear subtly in furniture fabrics and wall coverings.
Special attention was paid to furniture selection to evoke a feeling of being “at home.”
