The Maison de Rodolphe highlighted on ARTE

Extérieur de la maison de Rodolphe

La Maison de Rodolphe, a shelter for homeless people in Lyon designed to also welcome their pets, is featured in the ARTE documentary ‘Architecture in the Service of Society’.

Among the projects highlighted, the film explores the origins and ambitions of this initiative launched by Alain Mérieux, founder of bioMérieux.

In the documentary, Xavier Patriarche discusses the architectural intentions behind the project: creating a welcoming and dignified place that balances intimacy with openness.

Built around a timber post‑and‑beam structure into which three‑dimensional modules preassembled in the factory are inserted, the Maison de Rodolphe offers spaces dedicated to accommodation, healthcare, social support, and professional reintegration.

The site is made up of four buildings: two dedicated to accommodation, one for communal life, and a fourth for people accompanied by their dogs.
