ECLA Archamps

Restructuring of a building within the Greater Geneva economic hub: creation of a residence for young professionals and students, shared spaces, and a third place.

At the French–Swiss border, ECLA is establishing itself in a dynamic area, in immediate proximity to major academic, economic, and mobility hubs. Located at the heart of the Archparc Technopole, this strategic position enhances the site's appeal and makes it an ideal place to host a next-generation residence.

Developed by Océanis Promotion and designed by Patriarche, this 32,000 m² rehabilitation of a former complex—previously a shopping center and office space—embodies a new way of envisioning collective housing.

ECLA offers a hybrid model combining housing, services, and shared spaces, all grounded in principles of mutualisation, flexibility, and sustainability. The project reflects the agency’s commitment to rehabilitation: building with the existing to create places that are sustainable, adaptable, and inspiring. With an evolving architecture designed to be lived in and characterized by intensive use, ECLA fully embodies this vision.

Innovative and shared common spaces

ECLA is not limited to a residential offer: it provides a genuine living experience. A total of 1,500 m² of shared spaces and a 7,000 m² third place (food services, leisure activities, etc.) enrich residents’ daily lives. The site includes work‑oriented areas, such as flexible coworking spaces, as well as facilities dedicated to sports and well‑being, including fitness rooms, yoga spaces, and an immersive home‑training studio. Culture and leisure are also well represented, with a cinema, karaoke, music and podcast studios, and a game room. Finally, shared kitchens and welcoming lounges complete the offer, encouraging interaction and community living.

More than housing: a stage for collective, creative, and connected living.

A responsible rehabilitation

The project is part of an ambitious environmental approach: it is based on the redevelopment of a former 32,000 m² complex composed of a shopping center and office spaces, completed in just 24 months, demonstrating rigorous technical and organizational expertise.

The rehabilitation also integrates an ambitious reuse strategy: 3,000 m² of materials—including flooring, partitions, and furniture—were carefully dismantled, transformed, and reintegrated into the project.

ECLA thus becomes the first rehabilitated residential building in France to obtain the BREEAM Very Good certification, underscoring its exemplary environmental performance.
