Centre Sablon

Modernization of Centre Sablon

Since 1951, Centre Sablon has been a key destination for sports and community life in Montreal. Our team was commissioned to modernize its aquatic facilities, focusing on simplicity, durability, and user comfort.

The intervention seeks to preserve the spirit of the place while improving the overall visitor experience. Materials were carefully selected for their robustness and ease of maintenance in a humid, high-traffic environment. The architecture remains intentionally understated and bright, creating a welcoming and timeless setting.

Sablon’s identity at the heart of the project

The project highlights the building’s existing architectural qualities, particularly the high clerestory windows that bring in natural light and the concrete arch structure, revealed in its raw finish. This structural element subtly guides the organization of spaces and material transitions.

Centre Sablon’s signature blue, one of the facility’s identity colors, punctuates the pool area, locker rooms, and ceiling. It energizes the spaces while providing soft and reassuring visual cues. Signage and clear circulation paths also contribute to a more intuitive and welcoming user experience.

The project was designed so that Centre Sablon can continue welcoming its community in a safe, inclusive, and warm environment. Construction is expected to be completed in December 2026.
