Bromont Fire Station

An architecture in dialogue with its function and environment.

The new Bromont fire station was designed with its inhabitants in mind. Every detail—from material selection to volumetric composition—reflects respect for the firefighters’ craft and for the land they protect. The charcoal-colored wood, reminiscent of ash, anchors the building in powerful symbolism.

The architecture engages in a harmonious dialogue with Bromont’s rural and built landscape. Inspired by the familiar silhouettes of barns and country houses, the double-pitched mass timber volume houses the firefighters’ living spaces: dormitories, locker rooms, kitchen, and lounge. This architectural gesture evokes vernacular heritage while asserting a quiet, confident modernity. In contrast, the glazed drive-through garage, articulated around nine doors, adopts a more contemporary and functional language, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.

Serving Bromont, Brigham, and Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby, the station brings together under one roof :

• An administrative and public service area

• A garage and storage for specialized equipment

• Living and training spaces designed for team well-being and cohesion

• Dedicated facilities for CAMBI, the ambulance service

Conceived as both a workplace and a living environment, the fire station meets a dual objective: optimizing circulation to reduce response times and providing firefighters with a setting worthy of their mission.

Awarded the 2025 Distinction Prize by the AERMQ, the Bromont Fire Station exemplifies thoughtful architecture where functionality, identity, and landscape integration unite in service to the community.
