Rooted in local territories and open to the world

Hylo bureau

At Patriarche, this conviction shapes the way we design architecture and support projects, in France and internationally. Being locally present means choosing an in‑depth understanding of contexts, environments, challenges, and uses, together with those who design, build, and inhabit places.

One agency, multiple locations

Patriarche is present in several territories : France, Switzerland, Canada, Africa, and the Middle East. We have made the deliberate choice to establish ourselves within the territories in which we work, in order to develop a decisively local approach to projects. We draw richness from the perspectives, contexts, cultures, and specificities of each territory, so as to provide the most accurate response possible. We are committed to working with local companies, to complement our expertise and enrich it with a strong understanding of the local environment. Being present on site allows us to closely follow iterative exchanges and the progress of construction, while limiting our carbon footprint by avoiding frequent travel back and forth.

Architecture that speaks every language

Our architectural approach connects places and uses, and is structured around three pillars :

  1. Design: an ethical aesthetic for architecture that is sensitive, legible, and expressive.
  2. Use: designing lived-in, functional spaces rooted in real practices, embracing the diversity of needs and the evolution of social and professional contexts.
  3. Environment: embedding each project within a sustainable trajectory by reducing its footprint, optimizing its performance, and promoting natural and local resources.

Across the world, uses are evolving, conceptual expectations are changing, and environments call upon us to listen. We respond with care, singularity, and flexibility, driven by the desire to create places that are fully lived in.

Our international projects

Switzerland

Rooted at the heart of the Basel life sciences ecosystem and within the Greater Geneva area, our two Swiss agencies develop laboratory projects as well as industrial and residential developments. The Biotech Development Center in Corsier-sur-Vevey brings together Flexlab floors, a pilot plant, production cleanrooms, and office spaces. Nestled in a green setting, it provides flexible infrastructure capable of easily adapting to technological and process evolutions. Flexibility is also at the core of the Walter Klybeck project in Basel, which comprises two buildings:

  • The K-410 : plug & play or customizable laboratories
  • The K-25 : coworking or private offices, meeting rooms, and event spaces

This scientific ecosystem, combining laboratories and à-la-carte offices, is designed to meet the needs of life sciences companies at every stage of their development, from start-ups to international groups. Beyond the science sector, several tertiary, residential, and healthcare projects illustrate the momentum of the Patriarche agency in Switzerland. This is notably the case with the senior living residence project in Schübelbach. It features two complementary buildings open to the city, combining independent housing and care spaces around bright, landscaped shared areas, to offer a sustainable, inclusive living environment fully integrated into the urban fabric.

Africa

For many years, we have supported our clients on projects involving headquarters, public facilities, and hospitality, and we continue to expand our presence in Morocco with major infrastructure projects. Through our liaison offices, we work within a partnership-driven approach alongside locally established agencies and stakeholders, combining international expertise with an in-depth understanding of cultural, economic, and construction contexts. The Terrou-Bi hotel in Dakar demonstrates this ability to create places with a strong identity, open to their environment and designed for multiple uses. Alarobia Park illustrates an integrated urban and landscape approach, while the Orange Guinea headquarters reflects a commitment to designing functional, representative, and sustainable buildings that serve both users and corporate image.

Canada

Based in Montreal and Quebec City, our Canadian teams work across the entire North American territory, closely connected to local contexts and urban dynamics. They develop projects of varied typologies, particularly in the office, hospitality, and public facilities sectors, while incorporating the climatic, regulatory, and cultural specificities unique to Canada.
Among the emblematic projects, the Konect space illustrates architecture conceived as a lever for local economic development, fostering innovation and the emergence of young companies. The Biosphere, for its part, offers a sensitive approach to workspaces, designed to encourage interaction, well-being, and adaptable uses. Finally, the Carrefour de l’Eau project highlights the agency’s ability to design facilities deeply rooted in their territory, in close dialogue with natural resources and the landscape, serving both users and communities.

Middle East

In the Middle East, Patriarche’s collaborations in the fields of hospitality and food service, heritage, and cultural and sports facilities have naturally led to the opening of an office in Abu Dhabi in 2025. Being locally present enables Patriarche to better understand the climatic, cultural, and programmatic challenges specific to the region, and to develop sensitive, context-driven, and sustainable projects. The Knead Bakery project illustrates this contextualized approach, combining architectural identity, quality of use, and attention to craftsmanship within an environment in constant evolution.

France

In France, Patriarche relies on a network of six agencies located across mainland France — in Paris, Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon, Le Bourget-du-Lac, and Marseille — recently complemented by the opening of a new agency in La Réunion. This presence aims to support major local projects, particularly in the healthcare sector, in response to territory-specific challenges. All French agencies, however, operate across a wide range of fields: education, laboratories, industry, healthcare, rehabilitation, public and cultural facilities, critical and technological infrastructures, as well as office developments. The grEEn-campus project illustrates the agency’s environmental and programmatic ambition, while the Sartorius Campus demonstrates its expertise in complex scientific and industrial environments. The CHOR project in La Réunion highlights Patriarche’s commitment to designing innovative and resilient healthcare infrastructures, and the restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris underscores its involvement in exceptional heritage projects, where technical know-how and architectural sensitivity are closely intertwined.
