Marne-la-Vallée’s leading research and education site, the 123-hectare Cité Descartes in the Haute-Maison Joint Development Zone in Champs-sur-Marne has undergone major development in recent times.
The construction of a new complex including two buildings, a hotel and 530 parking spaces on a 25,000-square-meter plot of land in the shape of a triangle is a response to evolving needs on-site.
The first unit, built at the corner of Boulevard Descartes and Avenue Ampère, will include offices, shops, an on-site childcare center and an employee dining facility on the ground floor. Some of the offices on the ground floor and the floor above meet the safety requirements for being opened to the public. The second building, located along Boulevard Copernic and Avenue Ampère, houses offices and an extension of the ground-floor dining facility. Each building is treated as a separate, unique entity.
The plot on which the office complex is built will eventually be separated from that of the 5000-square-meter hotel.
The greater ensemble has been conceived to increase occupancy while also preserving transparency at the center of the building block.
