The programme includes a new technical platform with a lobby/reception area, admissions office, outpatient appointment space, outpatient surgery, exploratory-consultation space, continuous monitoring, operating rooms and obstetrics, sterilisation and restructuring and extension of the medical imaging, emergency and medical logistics building.
The hospital is connected to the city with a calm presence, quiet architecture and paved entry with an urban feel. The project respects the healthcare history of the site, highlighting the portico on avenue Calmette that was the entrance to the original building from 1895. We decided to instil the building with the readability and accessibility required by its function, by aligning the technical platform and mother-child unit and by building a vast lobby that acts as the centre of gravity. The public is welcomed in this space and it operates as a hub where patients, consultants or visitors can be directed to the appropriate units.
