Urban planning

We design sustainable neighborhoods, industrial campuses, and draft master plans.

A multidisciplinary team ( urban planners, architects, a sociologist, an environmentalist and a landscaper) advises and supports the customers in terms of sustainable urban development and with due respect to the specifics of the site, at the same time focusing on the human aspects. Our objective is to advance the emergence of a high quality sustainable and landscaped urban environment.

The architects /urban planners at Patriarche & Co first dealt with urban planning in the 1980ies when they remodeled many downtown areas in medium sized cities in the Savoie region. These studies required a sensitive approach, that took into account the history of the site, its social, economic and geographic contingencies. Then, in the next decade, the firm turned to Master Plan urban planning for industrial campuses.

The most striking example as such is the BOIRON Messimy industrial site (69) . It required a pragmatic approach to issues such as flux, within an complex urban recomposition in terms of access, roads, circulation.

In 2000, the sum of these experiences was combined in the creation of a new neighborhood in Aix les Bains, on the shores of Lac du Bourget. We opened inroads towards a sensitive, landscaped, and  sustainable urbanization. Environmental urbanism now guides every project, whether it be residential or industrial, promoting a low environmental impact, and magnifying the «Genius loci ».
